When the B-BBEE act was implemented with the intention to empower Black South Africans, Gerhard Conradie adhered to this plea and started Umhlaba Plant Hire under the GLC Group umbrella.

In 2015 he granted Mrs Annet Arendse, a former employee of GL Conradie Plant Hire, the opportunity to become the majority shareholder in Umhlaba Plant hire. The Company operates as the B-BBEE accredited company of the GLC Group.

Umhlaba's fleet consist of 2 - 15m3 trucks and our extensive range of earth-moving and construction machinery includes, Digger Loaders, Excavators, Frontend Loaders, compaction Rollers, Bull Dozers and graders.

Umhlaba Plant Hire operates in collaberation with it's sister company GL Conradie Plant Hire.
